Coaches Code of Conduct

  1. A coach will teach his/her athletes to play fairly, to respect the rules, officials, opponents, teammates and fans.
  2. A coach will demand that all coaches, players and fans of his/her sport will demonstrate positive sportsmanship at all times  and that there will be no swearing, arguing with officials, combative  behavior or abusive language by himself/herself or by anyone involved with his/her program.
  3. A coach will enable his/her athletes to resolve conflicts without aggression, foul language or violence.
  4. A coach will ensure all athletes receive adequate instruction, discipline, and support.
  5. A coach will correct mistakes by suggestions or showing their athlete how to correct and improve their play. A coach will not correct mistakes through ridicule, admonishing, or demeaning  the athlete.
  6. A coach will make sure that equipment and facilities are safe and match the athlete’s ages, ensure equipment and facilities meet safety standards and athlete’s ability and that all equipment and facilities are treated with respect by his/her athletes and staff and all equipment is properly returned/stored at the end of the season.
  7. A coach will remember that a Student Athlete needs a coach they can respect. They will praise appropriately and set a good example. They always maintain their composure in public and when dealing with their athletes.
  8. A coach will obtain proper training and continue to upgrade his/her coaching skills.
  9. A coach will collaborate with the officials for the benefit of the sport.
  10. A coach understands that constant negativity will not build his/her team up and will not led to a successful program.  He/She understands that each student athlete is different and that when dealing with discipline or correction of behavior that doing so publicly (during a game or in front of peers) and abusively undermines their goals. Always take the student aside and deal with them privately and in an appropriate manner.
  11. A coach will never question the official’s judgment or honesty in public or in front of his/her team.  It is proper to ask for clarification and when addressing the official address them with respect. 
  12. A coach will show concern and caution towards sick and injured athletes on opposing teams as well as their own.
  13. A coach will provide their injured athletes with a modified training program where appropriate and allow further participation in training and competition only when appropriate and cleared by medical personal.
  14. A coach will encourage athletes to seek medical advice when required. He/she will always maintain the same interest and support towards sick and injured athletes.
  15. A coach will collaborate with other coaches on the coaching staff so that the staff can provide”opportunities” for our athletes and not discourage an athlete from doing something they love to do, despite our own personal philosophy.
  16. A coach will be a professional and accept responsibility for their actions.
  17. A coach’s language, manner, punctuality, preparation and presentation should display high standards.
  18. A coach displays control, respect, dignity and professionalism to all involved with the sport
  19. Including opponents, coaches, officials,administrators, the media, parents and spectators and will encourage my athletes to demonstrate the same qualities.
  20. A coach will keep the Athletic Director and Administration informed of any problems or incidents
