Career and Technical Education

Career and Technical Education programs consist of a series of planned academic and career and technical education courses that are articulated with one another so that knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors are taught in a systematic manner.  When appropriate, career and technical education programs may also include cooperative work experience and participation in career and technical student organization to develop leadership skills and positive attitudes.

Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person will make in their lifetime.  Planning a career calls for an evaluation of abilities and interests as well as information about occupational areas needed to make informed decisions about careers.

The Career Learning Pathway curriculum model at Jersey Shore Area Senior High School is designed to focus student learning in a career area based on the student’s career plan completed in Grade 8 through the Pennsylvania Department of Education Career & Work Standards / Future Ready PA Index. Students will explore skill based courses in 9th grade, narrow their focus in 10th grade, and enroll in a pathway program of study for 11th and 12th grades.
