All of the elementary schools in the Jersey Shore Area School District have implemented a School-Wide Positive Behavioral Support Plan. Research has indicated that positive behavioral support plans effectively reduce the number of office referrals, as well as referrals for special education, while creating a more positive school climate. The four major components are as follows:
- 3-5 broad school rules
- Explicit instruction for appropriate behavior in all school settings
- A school-wide positive reinforcement plan for all students and staff
- A systematic procedure for handling chronic behavior difficulties
The reinforcement plan will encourage and reward positive behaviors on a frequent basis. There will be prizes drawn for students periodically, as well as some special surprises.
Please support our efforts by reviewing and reinforcing the following rules with your child:
Be Respectful, Act Responsibly, Remember Safety, and Keep On Learning.
