Hello Jersey Shore Community,
Today, a set of Frequently Asked Questions related to the elimination of mitigation orders was released by the PA Department of Education.
You can read them here – Pre-K to Grade 12 (pa.gov)
What does this mean for JSASD?
1. After May 31, 2021 there are no indoor or outdoor capacity limits.
2. Social distancing guidelines are considered a recommendation.
3. You will notice that the language indicates that social distancing of 3 feet (for elementary) and 6 feet (for secondary students and adults) should be maintained in classrooms and in all other school settings “to the maximum extent feasible”.
4. We are required to continue to contact trace, isolate and quarantine, but if you recall from my last communication, we are NOT required to close schools for a certain number of cases.
5. This will only impact the student days on June 1, 2, 3 & 4.
6. Again, as stated previously, the masking order that the state has mandated is still in place.
As I have consistently stated throughout the past week, these policies are implemented and changed at the State level. The Board of Directors and I are complying with orders. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate changing regulations and policies.
Thank you,
Dr. Ulmer
