Hello Jersey Shore Community,
I trust that this letter finds all of you happy and healthy, eagerly awaiting a well-deserved holiday break. I am grateful for everyone who plays a part in the Jersey Shore Area School District as a staff member, student, parent, Board member, community member or whatever it is that you do to make this school district special.
I was on my way to work, contemplating what to write to you all to wish you a Merry Christmas and “We Need a Little Christmas” came on my radio. For those that are not aware of the background, this song came from the musical Mame and was first performed in 1966 by Angela Lansbury. In the musical, it is not Christmas time, but the characters in the musical were reeling from the Wall Street Crash of 1929. The idea of the song in that production was that they started their Christmas celebration early to lift the spirits in their home.
Regardless of your situation, I encourage you to take the time to celebrate the holidays with your loved ones and enjoy your time off. The song lyrics say,“We need a little music, we need a little laughter” and “we need a little singing ringing through the rafter.”
Please enjoy your break. I look forward to seeing you all in 2023,
Dr. Ulmer
