Hello Jersey Shore Community,
It is beginning to look a lot like the Christmas season in many of our buildings. Please pay attention to our website, Facebook page and school communications for information on the many seasonal events that will happen in our schools throughout this month.
Thanks to all of the parents that took time to schedule and attend parent teacher conferences. As we return from the break, please reinforce with your child the importance of the partnership between school and home.
Mrs. Stephanie Machmer will be representing JSASD this month as a finalist for State Teacher of the Year. If you happen to see Mrs. Machmer, please congratulate her and thank her for all that she does for our students.
Attendance Information
As we enter the winter season, we recognize the importance of regular attendance on your child’s performance. Remember:
- If your child is ill, you do have the opportunity to excuse them up to 10 days of each year as their parent/guardian. Please be mindful of the health of others and refrain from sending sick children to school.
- In addition to a call on the day your child is absent, you will receive communications for 3-days, 6-days unexcused and another communication when your child reaches 10 days of absence. If you are not receiving those communications, please check with your child’s building to be sure that your contact information is correct.
- Principals and secretaries are only permitted to excuse students for the reasons listed in Board Policy #204. The policy does indicate that excuses must be provided in writing. We ask that you include the child’s full name, date of the absence and reason to easily process the request.
- If you want to take your child out of school for an educational trip, you can find the form on our website under information à Parent à parent forms. This form needs to be submitted to each school a child attends prior to the trip.
The district will have an early dismissal on Friday, December 22nd. Then, the district will remain closed to students until they return on Wednesday, January 3rd.
Thank you,
Dr. Ulmer
