Making a Difference on Earth Day!

Jersey Shore High School students and staff came together to celebrate Earth Day in a big way! They joined forces with the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership for “Pick Up PA,” a fantastic initiative sponsored by Keep PA Beautiful and PennDOT.

Bright and early on Monday morning, 56 students and chaperones divided into teams to tackle litter clean-up across various community spots. From the silver bridge to Veterans’ Park, Phelps Mills canoe access area, the Pine Creek Rail Trail, the boat launch area and the gazebo park, they worked tirelessly to make our town shine!  And guess what they found? Everything from typical trash to old vinyl records and buried street signs – talk about an adventurous cleanup!

Together, they collected an impressive 100 pounds of trash, ensuring it was disposed of responsibly at the Wayne Township Landfill thanks to the efforts of DCNR and Jersey Shore Borough. Our students loved being outdoors on this perfect spring day, making a positive impact on our community.
